YS-Q Series (YSQ)

The YS-Q line was part of the older pre-modern Tour AD era, before Graphite Design went heavily into today’s DI/IZ/VF style naming.

Mid/high launch • Mid spin

Known for:

• Very smooth, easy-loading feel

• Softer overall bend profile

• High energy release

• Designed more for rhythm and feel than “tour stout” stability

Best for:

Players with:

• smoother tempos,

• moderate swing speed,

• need help elevating fairway woods.

Feel:

Very active through the mid and tip.

Compared to modern Tour AD:

• softer than DI,

• much softer than XC/VF,

• more “old-school graphite” feel.

Reputation:

YSQ fairway shafts became popular because they were:
